Meet the team: Debbie Cooper – UK Sales Manager

I have been asked to write our first bio for our Channel Partner newsletter. This is no easy task as I ponder where to start and what to say. I shall begin with my official capacity at Crowcon. Many of you will already have met me and will know that my experience within the gas industry started many moons ago with Linde Gas. Since that introduction to the industry I knew that this was the place for me. I was familiar with the Crowcon products from my time within the gas industry, so to now work with the Crowcon team is absolutely wonderful.

I guess that my humble learnings from my dad at a young age of how to “Panel beat” and “Weld” provided me with an insight in to my passion for industry.

I have a great desire to “Do the right thing”. I fully believe that you should treat others with the respect that you wish to receive yourself. Integrity and honesty are key in my professional and personal life.

Personally I am very disciplined. It is important to have a good work/life balance and to do this I focus on my other passions. In May

2017 I began running again. After a spinal injury left me with a spinal fusion and considerable metal work holding me together in 2011. I was told that I would never run again. I spent 6 years focussing on core strength to allow me to feel confident enough to take my first run in May 2017, when I joined “parkrun” in Perry Hall Birmingham. From that moment onwards, I have trained hard and completed an Ultra Marathon (46 miles, cross country in 11 hours) 94 parkruns being the second person in the world to complete 2 x alphabet challenge (1 parkrun for each letter of the alphabet including global travel) and more recently my first Half Ironman Race. (1.2 mile swim, 56 Mile bike, 13.1 mile run). I always have an “A” race booked, with “B” races to help prepare for it. My next half marathon will be in Sydney, Australia on September the 15th. I will be honeymooning in Australia and what better way to celebrate your wedding than to participate in one of the worlds most beautiful races. I have various “B” races booked this year and next, leading up to next years “A” race – The Long Course Weekend, and 2021’s “A” race – The Full Ironman in Bolton.

My coach is my fiancé, a fellow crazy sports person who has helped me increase my potential and continues to support me as I enter for more advanced races.

I am currently also planning our wedding for the end of August. This includes a parkrun in the morning and an enormous amount of food!

Within the running clubs, I am the Mental Health ambassador and support the visually impaired runners. This means that we guide those with a visual impairment to enable them to run and join in on activities that otherwise would not be accessible. The two areas of support really do go hand in hand for this and running is a great way to chat without feeling confined to the seriousness of four walls. I am registered with Mind and Time to Talk and find that sometimes, people just need to know that they are being heard.

And last but not least, I am a huge Starwars fan. You may have noticed I generally have something “Starwars” in my possession, from cufflinks to pens, to bags. You name it, I’ve probably got it.

So, in short my motto is;

Always have your “A” race in mind, and prepare with your “B” races.
